Training Program

Fleet Feet Sports is more than just a running and walking specialty store – it is a starting point. Since their doors have opened, they have been offering a wide range of training programs ranging from the 5K distance to the Full Marathon distance.

All of their programs offer participants guidance and advice from experienced coaches, weekly group practices, training schedules, and educational clinics on topics such as proper nutrition, choosing the right gear, and avoiding injury, all within a fun and supportive environment.

Fleet Feet Sports will be offering the No Boundaries 5K and Next Steps 10K Training Programs as the Official Training Programs of the 2011 Rat Race. Here is a brief description of both programs:

No Boundaries 5K Program – This program is a national program sponsored by Fleet Feet Sports and New Balance. It is designed for beginners hoping to run or walk their first 5K race. The program cost is $75 and includes the following:

  • A weekly training schedule;
  • Coach-led weekly workouts on Wednesdays;
  • A weekly email with training tips, nutritional information and the inspiration that you need to get to the start and finish lines;
  • Weekly educational seminars that are part of the weekly workout;
  • A New Balance moisture-wicking shirt for training and a New Balance performance jacket for your finish line prize;
  • Shopping specials from Fleet Feet Sports and New Balance;
  • An individualized No Boundaries Gear Check from a Fleet Feet Sports staff member;
  • A chance to meet new people and become inspired by their efforts (or maybe inspire someone else with YOURS!)

Next Steps 10K Program – This program is designed for any level of runner or walker who would like to train for the 10K distance. The program cost is $75 and includes the following:

  • A weekly schedule;
  • Coach-led workouts on Tuesdays and Saturdays;
  • A weekly email newsletter with training tips, nutrition and other educational information;
  • A moisture-wicking training top;
  • Shopping Specials at Fleet Feet Sports;
  • An individualized Gear Check from a Fleet Feet Sports staff member; and
  • Lot's more
